Bare spots and thinning turf are one of the most common lawn complaints we hear around Hot Springs. The key is to figure out why a spot keeps failing before you throw grass at it โ otherwise it comes right back.
Fixing the cause is what makes the repair stick.
For a few small patches, loosen the soil, level it, and lay a piece of fresh sod or seed the spot and keep it watered. Matching the repair to your existing grass type matters โ patching zoysia with fescue just looks worse.
If more than about a third of the lawn is thin or dead, spot repairs won't get you there. It's usually faster and better-looking to prep and lay fresh sod for an even, weed-free result you can enjoy right away rather than babying seed for a season.
Some spots are just too shady for turf, no matter what you do. In those cases the right fix is a design change โ a shade-tolerant grass, a mulched bed, a stepping-stone path, or ground cover. We can help you decide whether to keep fighting for grass or turn the spot into something that actually thrives.
